Second Chance: Book Review (Rating: 7/10)

I don’t know, I have mixed feelings about this book. Probably I have uncontiously set a standard that must be met or exceeded for me to consider a book a good one. This could be due to the excellent books I read recently. To me when a book is about suspense/thriller I expect twists, an awe, originality, and unfortunately I didn’t get those in this particular book.

It’s called second chance, as it’s a continuation of the previous book called (1st to Die). But don’t worry, its like Da-vinci Code and Angels and Demons. Both had the same character, but one can read either of the books and it doesn’t matter which one you read first!

Over all the book was a good one, it had all the ingredient to be among the best books in the market, after all James Patterson is known for his originality, remember "Kiss the Girl" and "Along Came the Spider". Second Chance had the same vibe of that of his other books, it had a serial killer, and it had a weird yet good storyline. But something is missing, maybe the writer didn’t go into detail in describing the characters, all I got that the main characters (Lindsay Baxter) is a detective and enjoys an evening cup of tea at home from time to time, and no indication of her troubled childhood, despite big chunk of the book discuss her agony of her father abandoned her as a kid. Same thing with the other characters!
